A wedding website is a great place to give your guests additional information that you can’t necessarily put on your invitation. This could include information regarding accommodations, more details about your venue, or additional activities.

It is also a place to put contact information, like an email address, that your guests might not be familiar with. Your wedding website is a great place to introduce your wedding planner and his/her information. The bridal couple can alleviate and take additional burdens off of them by referring all guests to their wedding planner which is the day of point of contact.

A wedding website is fun and it opens up communication with your guests and allows them to easily get in touch with you without feeling like a nuisance as you work through your wedding plans.

Creating a website may seem overwhelming but there are many sites that can walk you through the process. Re Defining Moments is pleased to offer a “Free” Wedding Website to all new clients that purchases a full service wedding planning packages.

It is also suggested that if you put the time and effort into a nice website, you should also buy a personal web address. Buying a domain is quite cheap (around $11 for a year) and easy to do. Check out GoDaddy to search for and purchase available domains.

Where & How Did You Meet?

Cody and Jessica met in June 2004, two weeks after high school graduation. Jessica played clarinet in Woodstock High's Wind Ensemble and Cody played trumpet in South Effingham's Wind Ensemble. They both were nominated to represent Georgia in the "Ambassadors of Music" Program. 

This program allows students to travel abroad in Europe for two weeks while performing at local venues. They met at Norcross High School where practice was held before they left Georgia. After having to introduce herself three times, Cody finally remembered Jessica's name the day before they left for Europe.

Just days into the trip they were being referenced as a couple, and neither one of them thought to deny this. Cody likes to say that their first date was in Paris, and Jessica has no problem with that. Of course, that is hard to top. They both attended the University of Georgia and were in the UGA Redcoat band together.

On Wednesday, I posted some great information on using tents for your reception. Today, I will pick up where I left off. Giving you four awesome tips that will result in fabuluxe tented affair.

A tent reception can be an exceptionally beautiful and unique experience for the bridal couple as well as their guests. The variety and sizes of tents that are available today make finding something that fits your personal style easy and affordable. Clear top tents let you dance beneath the starlit sky and flat top frame tents provide you with an open and welcoming feel without supporting poles blocking the way. You can choose a tent without sides or one with French window sidewalls. Whatever tent you select, you will need the right lighting, flowers, fabrics and favors to make it a gorgeous oasis for your guests.

1. Use Lighting to Create Drama

The lighting of your reception tent is extremely important. By using some simple tricks, you can create an elegant escape or a fun and festive celebration. Twinkle lights, in white or colors, are often used in tent receptions; hidden in garlands, draped along ceiling panels, or strung in plants and shrubs. Other lighting options include spotlights with colored gels that create dramatic patterns on walls, floors or ceilings. For those who want a classic, romantic feel, candles create a dreamy and mysterious ambiance that could be just the right touch. A plethora of candle holders are available and make wonderful centerpieces. Blinking balloons can create a fun and casual tone to your event that your guests will love. Whatever your style, lighting is an important factor in creating the right atmosphere for your reception.

2. Bring Nature Indoors

Through the aid of well-placed flowers, trees and shrubs, your guests may be able to forget they are even in a tent. Fill corners with beautiful flowering shrubs or trees. Disguise support poles with vines and bouquets. Add fragrance with elaborate floral centerpieces. A nice twist on the traditional cut flowers for the table is to have a living arrangement that your guests can take home and plant in their garden or keep in the house, a continuous reminder of your special day. Flowers can add color and excitement to your event with a subtlety that your guests will surely appreciate.

3. Surround Yourself with Sumptuous Satins

In order to really transform a reception tent, creative use of fabrics is essential. From luxurious panels draped across the ceiling to tantalizing tulle-adorned support poles, fabrics can create depth and contrast to the harsh lines of the tent. Soften doorways by swathing them in flowing chiffon. Emphasize your head table with curtains of lace as a backdrop. Evaluate your tent and accentuate the highlights while downplaying any possible negative aspects. With a little imagination, you can create a completely unique and ethereal feeling for your reception.

4. Finish with Wedding Favor Flair

Complete your décor with corresponding favors that complement the surrounding motif. Very often, a well thought out favor can be the final touch needed to create a cohesive design for your reception, uniting the various elements around them. Whatever theme you use for your reception, you can use favors to heighten your guests’ experience.

With these simple techniques, you can create a magnificent venue for your reception. However, don’t forget the little details, too. Think about if you need flooring for the entire tent or just the dance floor. Are there any sound ordinances in the area that might affect your party? Do you have enough parking and restrooms for your guests? Do you have enough power for the caterers, musicians, and lighting? Is there a contingency plan in case of extremely bad weather? Once you have answered these simple questions and created your own design plan, you will have a wonderful reception that is uniquely your own that your guests will absolutely adore.

Weddings and receptions with an outdoor component are incredibly popular in the warm months. And, with larger, more sophisticated tent structures boasting such comforts as built-in heating, tent receptions are even taking hold in the colder seasons as well.

Yet tents are so much more than simply shelter. I love tented receptions for their natural intimacy, and creative possibilities.

One of the nicest things about tent receptions is the creative possibilities they enable. Unlike the typical reception hall, a tent is indeed like a blank slate upon which you can build your own world, creating exactly the atmosphere you desire for your grand celebration.

This not only makes your reception more memorable for you and your guests, but also makes possible a unique and powerful set of visual elements that will translate to beautiful memories. A tent gives you the creative freedom to visual construct the venue of your dreams

Because the canvas is bare you don’t to work around the existing décor of a venue, which oftentimes clash with the overall theme and look that you are trying to achieve. With tents you have more latitude to create a specific feel.

Setting Your Bridesmaids’ Dress Length

When it comes to your bridesmaids and their wedding day attire, the choice is yours! Now, of course you don’t want to make everyone wear something that they absolutely hate. The rule of thumb is that you make the decisions in terms of color, style, shape and length of their dresses.

Although your bridesmaids’ dress length may seem trivial in comparison to the millions of other things running through your brain, it has a subtle but integral part in setting the tone, the theme and the character of your nuptials.

Decisions, decisions.
Though today’s bridesmaids may be allowed to choose a style of dress that best suits their body type, a defined dress length is a statement of elegance for your wedding

When deciding on your bridesmaids’ dresses and whether they should be long or short, you will have to consider the type of wedding you are having (formal vs. informal), time of day and the time of year.

Formal (black-tie) weddings call for floor-length gowns, while an informal wedding (i.e. cocktail receptions, black-tie optional and/or daytime) is the perfect place for a cocktail-length dress, which is usually above, below or directly at the knee. Whichever length you choose, make sure that each bridesmaid is aware and compliant with your decision.

If the ceremony is taking place during the day, keep the dresses at cocktail length, as opposed to evening affairs where short, t-length (mid-calf) or floor length are a personal choice. Sundresses for a wedding on the beach are perfectly appropriate, while a t-length dress is a great option for an evening wedding at home.

When it comes to a climate, consider how it affects your bridesmaids. If it’s 30-degrees, your ceremony will most likely not be outside, therefore both short or long dresses are plausible However, if you, your bridal party and your guests are going to sitting outside in 90-degree weather, with little breeze and lots of sunshine, be kind to your friends by letting their legs breathe.

Straight down the line.
Directly after your bridesmaids purchase the dress, you must specify to all of them how many inches the dress should be shortened from the floor when the shoes are on. Call them directly, or send them an email with the specifics because this is often overlooked, resulting in the bridal party looking uneven.

A floor-length gown should be no more than 1 to 1 ½ inches off of the ground, with the shoes on. Therefore, when your bridesmaids go to their dressmakers, they must have the shoes they purchased for it with them. If you are firm, direct and pleasant in your instructions, they will have no problem with complying, and will look nothing less than extraordinary for your day.

Up-and-Coming Wedding Trends for 2012

Savannah Wedding Planner, Re Defining Moments predicts Up-and-Coming Wedding Trends for 2012. In years past, weddings were over the top and flashy. However as we approach 2012, the trends seem to be shifting toward more socially responsible, understated and intimate weddings. Brides are swapping enormous guest lists for intimate groups of close friends and family.

Trends are changing, and here’s how you can keep up.

Go Green

Many brides are giving up traditional wedding planning and opting for a green wedding.

 Choosing locally grown flowers, recycled invitations, and repurposing old items to become centerpieces has become a popular style.

Brides are not only saving money, but the environment as well. Guests are wowed by the bride’s crafty creativity rather than lavish spending, and the environment doesn’t pay the price. Not all brides are capable of a totally green wedding, but many are including small touches like donations to environmental charities in their guest’s names as their wedding favors or registering for eco-friendly honeymoons.

Vintage Theme

Something old is taking over in 2012.

With celebrities embracing old-Hollywood style brings about brides embracing vintage everything. Brides are bringing back just about everything from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. Thrift stores and antique stores are the shops of choice for the 2012 bride. Seating displays, table settings and decorations are all taking on an aged feel. Achieve this feeling by including a family tradition started by your great grandmother or putting old wedding photos from both of your families on the tables.

Think Outside the Church

More and more couples are opting to be married in a location other than a church. Outdoor weddings and weddings in interesting locations have become a popular way to make your wedding stand out.

If you are traditional and would like to use a church, try having your reception in a creative space like a museum or park. Often these types of spaces provide their own decoration and ambiance, and the cost of decorating is minimal.

DIY

The 2012 bride is budget conscious and ready to do a few things herself.

More and more we see brides printing invitations, writing place cards and creating centerpieces themselves. If you have the time, and the talent, virtually everything in your wedding can be home made. Although a totally DIY wedding is possible, it isn’t practical for most of us.

Instead of biting off more than you can chew, try taking on just one or two DIY projects to add a personal touch. If you’re not artsy, there are plenty of projects that simply require precision and following directions. Creating a playlist of wedding songs instead of having a DJ, for example, is a great project for someone who isn’t crafty.

The Forever Trend

Of course the lasting trend for weddings no matter the year is to make them your own.

Just as high shoulder pads have come and gone, so will this year’s trends. Settling on a wedding theme that you love is what is most important.

Just because everyone is doing vintage weddings doesn’t mean you have to give up on your Kardashian inspired wedding. Do what you and your fiancé feels comfortable with, and you might end up inspiring 2013’s up-and-coming trends!

Billy's Place - A Savannah Hidden Treasure

Billy's Place, located above McDonough’s Bar is little hidden Savannah gem. It is now one of my favorite venues for small intimate receptions or rehearsal dinners. Just look at the photo and you'll see why. The room can be accessed via an elevator and has its own private entrance.

Billy's Place has beautiful woodwork and all of the blinds open to allow natural lighting to come in. The room has its own service kitchen, bar and is equipped with a sound system and has a stunning Baby Grand Piano tucked neatly in the corner. This room can be taken to an even higher level of opulence with flowers, candles, and soft colored floor lights that make subtle color transitions.

The food is excellent and the staff pays close attention to every detail. I've found the staff easy to work with and extremely professional and experienced as you would expect. The amazing thing is that this venue has a small B&B that has 2 King Rooms and 1 Queen Room, all with their own private bath.

I fell in love with the overall feel and charm of this place and look forward to working with the staff on future events as well as adding it to my list of FABULOUS venues.
